Are You Thinking About Christmas Yet?

Hello everyone~ Two months from today is Christmas Eve! Are you thinking about Christmas yet?

We who live in Canada always celebrate our Thanksgiving early in October. Our harvest is usually earlier than our American friends' which is one reason why we celebrate earlier.

I think that is an advantage for us because it gives us more time to plan and prepare for the Holidays.

This is a plain evergreen wreath which I jazzed up a bit with some pine cones which got a a spray of gold paint, a simple bow, and one of the cardinals my son gifted me with. It looks so pretty with the fairy lights behind it!

I haven't actually began decorating of course, it is a bit early but I have been going through some of my pictures and I thought I would share with you my small collection of Christmas birdhouses which I painted and set on the shelf in the entry way.

I went through a birdhouse phase for a while when I painted all kinds of bird houses. These are my Christmas houses.

This one is my Gingerbread House which is slathered with faux icing and little hearts and candies are painted on it. A little tree and a wee angel stand out front to welcome all our feathered friends.

The Blue House is visited by two little feathered friends. This house had originally been the center of a Christmas flower arrangement. I had made one for my DIL and one for myself.
There is real birdseed in the pail and the bare branches are real twigs which are sprayed gold. I change up the tree twigs every year.

The last one is the robin egg blue Holiday House which is all decked out for the Holidays. Snow is on the roof and chimney and a wee angel sings joyfully on the front porch. There are two trees and the pillars are wrapped with real ribbon.

Here they are all displayed on the shelf.

Now that Christmas is on its way, I will be getting ready with some crafts and baking. I am anxiously awaiting all the Christmas magazines to come out too.

What are you doing these days in preparation for the Holidays?

Keeping Christmas in my heart all year round~ Sandi

  1. Sandi, your birdhouses are cute. I also like your wreath. Right now I'm finishing up my gift purchases and getting them all wrapped. My Christmas cards are signed and addressed. I need to write my Christmas letter in a few weeks. I also want to make some new decor pieces for this Christmas. I'm counting down the days!

  2. Your bird houses look so cute! No, I'm not in Christmas mode yet. Still have to get through Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Hope you have a wonderful season. Susan

  3. Are you kiddin'... its ALL I think about!!
Im thinking this year I might decorate on November 1st. I usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving, but that only gives us a month to enjoy the hours of work it takes to hang the lights, put up the tree and display the stockings! So Im with you on this one, Im starting early.
I love your little blue house with the candy cane poles. very cute!

  4. Hi Sandi! Those bird houses look beautiful on that shelf. I really like the robin's egg blue one. Cute! Gina

  5. I'm firming up my gift lists and have made lists of things to buy, craft, and bake. Bought some extra baking ingredients and some components for crafted gifts. I'm working on on some of those today. Time to get off the computer and do some more crafting!

  6. Sandi,
Yes, I have started to decorate!! I took down all of Fall and Halloween in the house and I have started with the Living Room, which usually takes me the longest.
